Inspiring the Next Generation of Vocations: The local Serra Club Chapters recently gathered to celebrate the bright minds and faithful hearts of our youth at the Annual Dr. Jim Falk Writing Contest. It was a deeply moving evening dedicated to honoring this year’s gifted winners and listening to them bravely share their insights with our community.

In steadfast alignment with the Serra Club's core mission— to fervently foster, sustain, and promote holy vocations to the priesthood and religious life—these talented student authors took to the podium. Through the power of the written word, they articulated their personal reflections on faith, purpose, and divine calling, receiving well-deserved monetary prizes for their outstanding theological and creative achievements.

Exploring the Call: This Year’s Essay Topics
Students were invited to dive deeply into the concepts of discipleship and spiritual discernment by choosing from three vocational prompts:

The Witness of the Saints: Research a favorite saint who served as a priest, religious brother, or vowed nun. How did this saint tirelessly serve God and neighbor, and what does their timeless legacy mean in your own life today?

Hearing the Whisper: How can we tune our hearts to hear the gentle whisper of God’s personal call amidst the chaotic noise and distractions of our modern American culture?

Living Discipleship: How have you come to understand the true meaning of discipleship through the living ministry, joyful witness, or faithful mentorship of a priest, deacon, or religious sister?
